Cloud Gaming, the future of the online gaming industry

Cloud Gaming, the future of the online gaming industry
In spite of the increase in the number of online gamers, the gaming industry is facing a lot of challenges. Game developers and marketers work on different strategies to overcome the economic melt down. The Government and the broadband providers also have taken measures in avoiding piracy and illegal downloads to help the growth of the creative industry.

Denis Dyack of Silicon Knights says that cloud computing is the only model that can be ideal for consumers, publishers and developers. This service offers a series of online games to be played without any special hardware requirements. He mentioned that issues like piracy, sale of used games, which harms the industries growth can be solved by adapting this technology. Also it can attract many new customers who are confused with the complexity of the choices in the market.

Since the cloud acts as hardware it eliminates the usage of the any gaming hardware. Once purchased these games remain forever in the cloud, thus eliminating piracy which brings a win-win situation for the customers and developers. More over it allows creating an open and standard format where anyone can create store specific games. Customers can avoid the confusion between the specifications of rating of the games by different consoles. The new technologies like 3G and 4G which focuses in providing fast broadband access will also facilitate this innovative idea.

The other advantages in this type of online gaming are that it creates a level for the players that help the customers to focus on the game instead of learning cheat codes. Also if its a single point access there will not be any over supply of the products. To make it clear, if a customer has a XBOX then the games concentrated in a PS 2 or 3 might not be useful for him or her. But if its a single platform, it helps the customer to feel the experience of every genre of games.

Cloud computing helps the development of the gaming industry and does not give an opportunity for people to piracy. Since the broadband users increases drastically, broadband gaming through cloud would be the future of the gaming industry.
