Google announces licensing service for Android apps

Google announces licensing service for Android apps
Both Google and developers are probably unhappy with the current copy-protection mechanism that protects apps available in Android Market, so Google is releasing a new licensing service for applications.

Created for all paid apps in Android Market (Android 1.5 or newer), the licensing service allows developers to "query the Android Market licensing server to determine the license status of their users."

Google plans to replace the current Android app copy-protection mechanism with the new, safer service in the next few months.

More on Google's new licensing service (including how to implement it into your apps) can be found at the Android Developers website.
