There has been multiple reports of Intel possibly delaying the launch of their upcoming Ivy Bridge processor, but in a recent set of reports from Digitimes, it seems that the announcement could be a lot closer than we think. The website has reported that a handful of manufacturers, namely ASUS, Acer, Lenovo and HP are currently waiting for Intel to make the announcement before proceeding with their latest batch of ultrabooks scheduled for a May launch. The announcement is said to be taking place on the 23rd of April which has been brought forward from the previously rumored 29th of April date.
Based on previous rumors, Apple could very well be the first out the door with Intel's Ivy Bridge processors with their rumored MacBook Pro refresh. It had been suggested before that Apple's 15" MacBook Pros could be seeing a launch later this month which will not only feature the Intel Ivy Bridge processors but will also sport a new slimmed down design, similar to that of the MacBook Air. Hints that Intel could be close to launching their new processors was an earlier rumor this morning that revealed that the company was reportedly shipping second-gen Thunderbolt controllers for use with their Ivy Bridge chips.
