Last year we announced that MySpace would be revamped into a music-centric website, and it looks like its plan might be working. According the online social network, it reported that a million new users have signed up for an account since December. However, it didn't mention anything about people leaving the website, so we're not sure if a million new users translate into a net growth of a million users. But regardless of how many users left, it's a pretty significant number of new users anyway.
MySpace is no longer competing against social network giant, Facebook - instead, it is making use of its existing deals with record labels and all the indie music already available on its service to work together. At the moment, it has 42 million tracks - a lot more than competing services Spotify or Rhapsody, with a huge bulk of them belonging to amateur musicians recording songs in their bedrooms. But with this growth in users, there is a possibility of the service resurging again and becoming the preferred service of choice for musicians.
