Suzuki Regina concept renamed G70, production version coming?
The Suzuki Regina concept shown at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show was an unusual little car. We don't want to get our hopes up about production (especially since we'd probably never get it in America anyway), but the Regina will return to the spotlight at the Geneva Motor Show with some tweaks that have us wondering if Suzuki plans to actually build the French-looking runabout. Despite its bold styling, the Regina's drivetrain seems plausible enough; it's powered by a conventional three-cylinder gasoline engine.

Press Release:

(01x02x12 ) - At the 82nd Geneva Motor Show next month; Suzuki Motor Corporation will display the G70 Concept which demonstrates new vision for a compact car incorporating minimised weight and elaborated dynamics. The G70 weighs just 730kg and has a drag coefficient at least 10 per cent lower than that of a current Suzuki 'A' segment model.

As a direct result of overall weight reduction and the use of a highly efficient petrol engine, CO2 emissions are as low as 70g/km (measured in the European Driving Cycle)

Also on display will be the Swift Range Extender, Suzuki's latest development in hybrid vehicle technology. The Swift Range Extender was first shown at the Geneva Show in 2010 and, since then, has undergone further development which has resulted in a 100 per cent improvement in battery driving range to 30km.

Swift Range Extender utilises a generator and a highly efficient 660cc three cylinder petrol engine to power it. Compared with a conventional Electric Vehicle that depends entirely on battery power, the Range Extender has a more compact lithium-ion battery that's quicker to charge, weighs less, uses fewer resources and also costs less.

Suzuki Motor Corporation will hold a press conference on the 6th March at 9.45am and are located on stand 4251 in Hall 4.
